Subject: Small Business and Telecom Law

Now that the RBOC's have had their way before Congress, small businesses
must make up for our lack of political organization and use the law to our
best advantage, while we work to see that it is changed in the future.

I have joined the National Federation of Independent Business and encourage
others that are pissed off at this sellout to big business to do likewise.
Unfortunately, the NFIB was not part of this debate but now knows that small
businesses were shafted by the bill. A one year membership is $100. You
may join by calling 1-800-634-2669. I will be asking them to be involved as
Dole's leftover spectrum issues are debated and, with your help, we will
insure that issues relating to small business in general are reviewed too.

The new law requires an FCC Market Entry Barrier Proceeding for small
businesses and entrepreneurs to be held within 15 months. My intent is to
insure that the FCC hears from lots of small businesses individually, and
collectively thru the NFIB and other organizations. I am researching the
avenues for filing of comments on this future proceeding now and will try to
keep small businesses updated on our options.

I think it would be to the benefit of small businesses to set up a separate
listserv for the discussion of issues that are specific to our needs. Can a
small business person with the necessary resources be of help in doing this?

The fight for small business rights in this new world begins NOW!! Be a
part of it.

Having recieved this Web Address from a friend and perusing it,
it, I think that it is finally time to make some radical
changes in this government. Corruption has reached it's highest.
15% of the people in the US control the wealth, and most of them are
government employed.(Congressmen, Etc) Funny, isn't it? Now, they
try to take away our rights of freedom of Speech and Information!
They take away these rights, they have absolute power. They already
control the main television and paper media. If the so-called
"Information Superhighway" is taken over, we are all screwed.
(By the way, if this message isn't recieved, then we all know
who censored it! <grin>

Cyber-Righters,

Well, now that this is a reality, what next? Is congress sincere about
amendments or will it get shoved under the rug and forgotten? What chance
do Mike Godwin and company have of succeeding? Are we talking Colgate
against Kentucky or is it more like Illinois against North Carolina??
